Every year the Chamber of Commerce nominates and selects a Chamber Citizen of the Year, whose qualities include selfless donation of time and energy beyond one’s job. This year the nominee was Clarence Searight and he was honored at a banquet at the DEI Center at the Luverne United Methodist Church. Over 150 people attended to banquet to honor Clarence. Friends and family spoke on his behalf, and it was a very emotional evening. Rev Charlie Sankey of Rock West Baptist Church was the guest speaker and delivered a very stirring message. Dinner was catered by Sydney’s Catering of Luverne . This event, of all events hosted by the Chamber, has special meaning because we are honoring a Crenshaw County person who has gone above and beyond.
