We  our painted window decorations by Michelle at “A Colored Affair Muralist”‼️ She is uptown Luverne today painting windows for those that are interested.
She even comes back after the holiday and cleans it all off 
Let’s show our Love for Luverne this Valentine Season ️🧡🤍🤎Don’t forget to stop in the Living Water Coffee House for a cup of hot coffee, a gift from the many books and paintings for sale (books by local authors) and find out about the painting/craft classes held every other Saturday.  People are coming from all over the county.  Open M, T, W, F and Saturday 7:30 – 11:30.  You will love the experience!

Today, Monday 2/3 – Movie Madness at the Luverne Public Library – 4 – 5:30 p.m. – showing the latest Addams Family movie. 
Adult Craft Day – Monday, February 24 – 5:30 p.m. limited to 12 people – non-refundable fee of $20 must be paid by 2/21.
February 27th – Citizen of the Year Banquet honoring Brantley Mayor Bernie Sullivan – invitations will go out in the next week – mark your calendar.  
As always, the Chamber supports our SHOP LOCAL program…..before you drive out of town, shop local stores and services….they depend on you!

  Citizen of the Year
The Chamber Board of Directors is excited to announce that Mayor Bernie Sullivan of Brantley has been chosen as the 2020 Chamber Citizen of the Year.  The banquet date is set for Thursday, February 27th at 6:30 p.m. at the DEI Center at the Luverne United Methodist Church.  Invitations will go out in the next couple of weeks and reservations will be required as usual at $25 per person or $175 per table of 8 guests.  We will send more information as the date gets closer, but you will want to calendar this event and respond as soon as your invitation is received.  
  AMEA SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION  
We are attaching AMEA Scholarship information again and reminding you that the deadline for submitting an application is Monday, February 3rd.  All the information is in the attached letter from AMEA and the forms that are required.  Please pass this information along to friends or family who have a student who would be eligible.

Now that the holidays are over, maybe you saw something while shopping for gifts that you just can’t get out of your mind……or maybe you received a Christmas gift that will allow you to purchase needed furniture or household items or “special wants” ……as always the Chamber requests that you Shop Local and we have great places  in Crenshaw County to do just that……

As we remind you with every newsletter, SHOPPING LOCAL is our passion.  Now that the holidays have passed and you are probably having SALES, please send us information on special pricing you have, dates for special sales, etc.  We want to help you by publishing the sales to all Chamber members.  Your Chamber has over 100 member businesses so the opportunity to “spread the word” is significant.  Newsletter emails are broken down into four (4) groups, and members share with their employees, so don’t miss the opportunity to increase business with shopping information.

Monday, December 2nd – The annual Visit With Santa will be held at the Luverne Public Library from 3-6 p.m.  Santa will come in on the firetruck to visit with kids of all ages.  Stop by the Library and pick up a letter to Santa to bring back for the visit.  Each child will receive a small gift from Santa and the Friends of the Library will serve snacks.  A beautiful backdrop makes great Christmas pictures!
Tuesday, December 3rd – Ribbon Cutting at Pre’s Sweets n Things – corner of Hwy 331 and Hwy 29 – celebrate this wonderful new bakery – 10/30 a.m. . is the time for the ribbon cutting and Grand Opening.
Friday, December 6 – 12  noon – Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for Southern Rose Cottage at 61 S. Forest Avenue.  Have you seen the beautiful windows……this building is once again glorious…..join Angel Strickland and her staff as they formally open the doors…..
Saturday, December 7th – Crenshaw County Chamber Annual Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting.  Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. – registration of floats is required for judging.  Call 335-4468 to register your float.  Hot chocolate will be sold in the Open Air Plaza at 15 S. Forest Ave, Ray Hilburn and the Crenshaw County Cattlemen’s Association will have rib-eye sandwiches for sale at Welch’s Station location; a Children’s movie will be shown after the parade in the Open Air Plaza. Santa pictures at the Pepsi Pavillion at 4 p.m. – $5 – Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be here to greet you!
Tuesday, December 10th – the Christmas Sweets and Treats event will be held at the Luverne Public Library from 6 – 8 p.m.  Join the Friends of the Library and enjoy delicious finger foods while supporting the Luverne Public Library.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Library or from Members of the Friends group.
Thursday, December 12, 2019 – The Friendly City Homecoming Christmas Show with Kevin Sport and Chris Smith….mark your calendar.  Place:  LUMC DEI Center…Time:  6-8 p.m. This is a dinner theater event, catered by The Old Barn Restaurant…..tickets $25 per person for dinner and show….tickets available at First Citizens Bank or call 334-300-7795 for reservations.  Call early to get your tickets…..this is a very special production.    Produced by Sessa Productions, Lisa S.     Chamber Christmas Parade

The 2019 Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 7th and will begin under the lights in downtown Luverne at 5:30 p.m.  We are excited to again bring the parade to the evening hour after so many positive comments of last year.  Lineup will begin at 4 p.m. at the Old Armory at 6th and Franklin Streets.  
We are asking that all floats be registered by either calling the Chamber office or completing the form attached to the link provided.  While we are only requiring floats to be registered for judging purposes, we would appreciate anyone entering the parade to register as well.  We love knowing who will be in the parade in advance.  Link for registration:

Chamber Golf Tournament – Was held on Monday, October 14th at the Luverne Country Club.  Congratulations to the winning team, Kilcrease, Kilcrease and Weed.  Thanks to Foster Carpenter and Al Snellgrove for managing the event and for all the work involved.  Also thanks to Chamber Board members Kay Franklin and Jackie Powell and Jimmy Johnson for all their work during the lunch and tournament. Thanks to Ray Hilburn for manning the grill…. The Chamber appreciates all who donated door prizes and the Belles and Beaus who helped with that part of the event….and special thanks to Superfood, Rameys and Chicken Shack for making our lunch a treat!!   It was a great “no sun” day and 51 golfers participated in this, our second annual tournament, which supports our scholarship program for Belles and Beaus.

Please attend a special meeting tomorrow evening, October 16th,  at City Hall, Luverne, Alabama at 5:00 p.m. for the purpose of a discussion regarding a proposed improvement to the community recreational facilities in the form of a Splash Pad at E. L. Turner Park.  Information will be given and the public is invited to voice their opinion at this meeting or submit written comments at a later date.  Please attend this meeting as this would be a wonderful new entertainment place for our kids.  Public involvement and input is sought after for this project.  The City gets points for every name on the attendance list.  Please share this post and ask parents/grandparents/neighbors to attend.

Crenshaw County Bicentennial Maker’s Market Festival and Celebration – Saturday, October 12
The Bicentennial Committee is still accepting artists, crafters, authors, exhibitors, food vendors, specialized sellers, produce vendors, antique/collectible vendors, quilters, clothes Maker’s, canners, bakers and you name it for the Crenshaw County Bicentennial Maker’s Market Festival and Celebration this Saturday. We currently have 27 vendors/exhibitors and more every day, but we would love to have many more . Also spread the news for shoppers. We want this to be a huge success and for everyone to have a great time.  See attached poster for more information – kids events, music all day, special music at 10 a.m. – don’t miss this great celebration!!!!!
